Ugly; Stupid; Weird, 2021
An object that symbolizes self-hatred through methods and materials. Anxiety, depression and self-hatred. I investigate and illuminate the subject by metaphorically and symbolically shaping a narrative that tells about the complex and deep emotions.
Self-hatred is expressed in words. The words are in the mind, in the head, like a loaded weapon. Sometimes the words are said out loud to the mirror image. This idea comes from the times I look at myself and think or say things like I'm ugly, stupid or weird. That I am totally useless.
In the mirror glass, with help of laser there is engraved poetry about self-hatred. The thorny shape symbolizes the feeling of constantly having the thorns towards the inside, which results in the thorns also turning outwards and harming people in one's surroundings.
